Flexible work hours

Phoenix Wharf offers flexi hours for all staff. For example, if you want to go to the gym before work or pick your children up from school, you can flex your working hours to suit your lifestyle.

Hybrid working

Working from home has always been a part of our flexible work policy. We usually work 3 days from home and 2 days in the office. Exceptions apply to staff members living outside a 50 mile radius from the office.

Time off & holidays

Full time employees get 25 days holiday per year (excluding public holidays). In addition, we offer 3 personal days, 1 input day and 1 charity day.

Live roles

  • The Senior Business Developer role has been established to ensure we create volume in the new business pipeline to drive growth. It is the key to helping us achieve our ambitious growth plans for the future, whilst also driving short term sales.

    Reporting to the Group CMO, the Senior Business Developer will play a leading role in the identification, qualification, response, securing and handover of profitable new business opportunities for the agency.

    Phoenix Wharf is going through an exciting period of change, and as such we expect this person to be passionate, highly motivated, sales-and networking-minded and have relevant hospitality design business development experience.

    Key responsibilities:

    • Primary focus is on winning hospitality clients for Phoenix Wharf and to own and deliver the strategic new business plan

    • Help to develop the agency's profile as an award-winning interior design and branding agency for the hospitality sector, resulting in increased inbound traffic and new business opportunities

    • Identify, qualify and close business opportunities from all markets for Phoenix Wharf’s interior design and branding services.

    • Open the door to new business prospects and arrange quality meetings through phone calls, following up on mailers, social media interactions and networking at industry events and exhibits

    • Develop relationships with food consultants and third parties who can help us secure profitable and repeat new business opportunities

    • Work closely with our Account Director to achieve sales targets and expand our client base

    • Help with creating fee proposals, RFPs, tender and pitch documentation when required

    • Meet with key prospects at formal meetings when required, alongside a senior member of staff initially

    • Work with the marketing team to plan and define any strategic thinking and approaches required to create New Business Mailers, campaigns, etc

    • Build a high quality database with targets at different levels, maintaining accurate records of all sales and prospecting activities including sales calls, presentations, closed sales, and follow up activities within the Hubspot CRM

    • Attend bi-weekly planning meetings with your line manager and report on progress at the monthly new business team meeting

    About you:

    • Excellent communication, negotiation and presentation skills,

    • You understand what intelligent business development means, alongside strategic marketing & PR. We are not about the ‘hard sell’. We’re about building meaningful relationships with prospects

    • Previous design agency business development experience is a must

    • Always have a targeted and well researched, personable approach. Able to articulate the distinct aspects of our services in a compelling way that is of interest to prospects

    • Able to keep an eye on the competition in order to have the knowledge to pitch our service offering against that of the incumbent’s offering, to prospects

    • Offer clients focused, differentiated and achievable solutions to their problems

    • A passion for creative agency business, with a positive attitude and a pro-active, hands-on approach

    • Super organised & efficient, with great attention to detail

    • Target & results driven with a good understanding of marketing a creative agency
